Today, Grade 6 enjoyed a field trip to Sangrok martial arts training center in Oslo. The Grade 8 students kept a positive attitude and participated in activities related to Chinese Wushu martial arts.

This week students continue their learning about school communities. They have learned some new words, such as, 谁的, 书包, 谁 etc. And they also started to work together on their group work.

In order to help students understand better the rubric and summative assessment, Grade 6 did peer assessment for their Chinese New Year poster work. It was nice to see most students work hard on it. After that they did end unit self-reflection.

This week, students have been practising the knowledge they had learned about Chinese New Year through different activities, such as competition games, word cards. Students really enjoyed these activities.

On Monday the school celebrated the Chinese New Year. Grade 6, 7 & 8 presented an assembly on the theme of Chinese New Year and after that they taught the younger kids Chinese New Year traditions with different activities. At lunch time, they tasted some Chinese food which they really like. Grade 6, 7 & 8 did a fantastic job. It was a very successful celebration and everyone had a nice time. A big thanks to their engagement.

This week students have learned how to form a negative sentence in Chinese and different ways of forming question sentences. Students were required to make a dialogue in groups and role-play the dialogue with their classmates.

This week Grade 6 have continued to learn greetings in Chinese. The students learned a few new Chinese characters and understood the basic structure of Chinese sentence. They practiced with different activities. In addition, students have learned how to count numbers from one to twenty.

This week, students have started to learn new Chinese words with stories. Stories encourage students to ask questions, and help them understand Chinese culture and memorize the new words. They have also learned to exchange names with others and practiced it with games.
They also learned Pinyin and four tones. Students were asked to practice at home with the websites (see below). This website offers Chinese Pinyin with audio. In addition, Grade 6 learned to greet people in Chinese.
